This man is my spirit animal.
Let me just start off by saying that this was my fourth Foxy Shazam show. There’s a group of us from my school that absolutely love them and see them whenever we can. The last time we saw them was way back in January. When we were running through the streets of Columbus in tee shirts with six inches of snow on the ground:

Anyways, we were all really bummed because they weren’t going to be in Ohio until November and it was in Cincinnati and expensive. Last week we found out that they would be giving a FREE OUTDOOR SHOW! in Columbus!
We got to the venue a half hour before they were supposed to go on and there was no one there. I guess people were too scared of those ominous clouds?

Katie, Brock, and Adrian went to the bathroom and Anna and I walked around the tents. As we were walking I got a text from Katie asking where we were. We found them on the steps talking to SKY WHITE! Ack! Apparently he had just come up to them and started talking. He said that they were thinking of playing a new song that night for the first time ever. We told them that they should absolutely play the new song and he said Ok. That he’d talk to the boys. WHAT NONSENSE!

He left and we had to sit through a rap trio called Flyu. Flyou. Something. They kept on insisting that “When I say Fly. Y’all say YOU!” Woof. Anyways. FOXY WAS NEXT!! We walked up to the stage, right in front on Sky side (AKA the best side). It was incredible. There were maybe fifty people and there was no barrier or security. Just us and the stage and the boys. Anna was excited:

They opened with Oh Lord. And OH LAWD! It was amazing. We were so close. They played the new song, “I Like It”, four off of Introducing and a bunch from their latest album. Eric asked the crowd for a cigarette and ANNA GAVE HIM ONE OF HERS!!! He lit it with HER lighter, winked and said “Thanks babe,” smoked it, and ate it! Per Eric Sean Nally usual. At one point Sky picked his keyboard off the stand and gestured to us. WE HELD HIS KEYBOARD AS HE PLAYED IT. WHAT!?!!?

The show ended with Killin It and Aaron McVeigh throwing his drumstick into the crowd. Guess who caught one? This girl! The boys walked off stage and we started the ‘Foxy! Foxy!’ chant. They came back on just after Katie ripped the set list off the stage. While they were setting up I shouted, “Bye Bye Symphony!” Eric looked at me and said, “We weren’t gonna play that one, but ok. Ready boys? Hit it!” THEY PLAYED THE SONG THAT I ASKED FOR! BAH!

After Foxy was really over, another totally rad band came out, Wallpaper. But we decided to walk over to the side of the stage, just to see, and who should come out but Daisy! He remembered us from our very first Foxy show, which was awesome and we talked to him for a solid twenty minutes. He told us that the new album was done and should be coming out in January which would be followed by a HEADLINING TOUR! He also said that both he and Alex Nauth were engaged, which is wonderful as both of their lady loves are beautiful people. Then Sky came back out and asked us how we liked the set and the new song. They are all so nice! AND THEN WE MET ERIC! He asked for our names and shook our hands. Thanked Anna for her cigarette and thanked all of us for rocking out so hard in the rain. Loren and Alex were there too and we asked if we could get a picture with the three of them, they obliged and Alex’s dad offered to take the picture. Right as we were going to take it Sky materialized with Aaron and Daisy. WE GOT A PICTURE WITH THE WHOLE BAND!!!

It’s not a great picture, but we were all there: Eric, Katie, Loren, Daisy, Brock Adrian, Alex, Sky, Aaron, and Anna and me in front!
Aaron saw that I had the drumstick and asked if he had hit me or not, if I was ok and thanked us for coming to the show. Alex remembered us as the Shavangelists and hugged us all. I congratulated him on his engagement and he started gushing about his love and saying how lucky he was and then he hugged me again! Egad. After that the boys dissipated and we headed home but not before a post Foxy huddle and going over all of the amazing things that had happened that night.
It was quite possibly one of the best nights of my life.
FOXY FOREVER!
